A Hundred Years of Wedding Gowns in Three Minutes

Mondays are slow. Don’t you find that it always takes extra long to get back into the grind of the work week and you’re more susceptible to distraction? I guess that’s why they call it manic Mondays. Well, we’re here to help you (and by help we mean further distract) with a fun little three minute video break.

Following Mode’s viral success of showcasing the history women’s fashions in a two minute video, next up on the docket was none other than the history of wedding dresses (because let’s face it, wedding gowns are in a league of their own in the fashion world). Breaking it down by decade, the model is made up by the dominating wedding styles of that time period (dress, makeup, hair and bouquet). From the roaring twenties, to the swinging sixties, to present day, they’ve nailed each decade. I have to say, you can definitely see the influence of each time period in today’s current bridal styles. Most notably the bouquet style from 1915, the lace wedding dresses with long sleeves from the 1930s and of course the bohemian styles of the 1970s. Everything makes it’s way back around (except for the 80s, everything from the 80s can stay put).

Take a look below and let us know what you think. What decade had your favourite wedding style? Share in the comment section. We’d love to hear from you.

Happy viewing!
