Happy Remake, Toronto style!

Today we are sharing with you a little labor of love. Our very own Happy remake! It may be a bit behind the trend as Pharrell Williams launched his 24 hours of happy website/music video last November but that doesn’t mean it’s not awesome! And what better day to post a Happy video than a Friday? TGIF, am I right?

We here at Brightside films LOVE Toronto. The people, the neighborhoods, the culture. It’s a wonderful city filled with so much character and charm we decided to dedicate a video to it. We opted to showcase our love affair with Toronto in the form of a remake of Pharrell’s “Happy” video because that’s how this city makes us feel!

So, on a mild, early spring day with streets full of melting snow, our three person team set out to film some friends, acquaintances, spirited Torontonians, and even some local dancers (provided by AMP Talent) grooving in the streets to Happy. We filmed in Kensington Market, Harbourfront, China Town, Distillery District, the Beaches, Yorkville, Bloor & Bathurst, and said farewell to Toronto’s famous landmark, Honest Ed’s. Also, a big shout out to Panorama Lounge for allowing us to shoot from Canada’s highest patio (51st floor!!)

Fun fact! This video actually started as a promotional video for Sakina Jewellery but we loved the outcome so much we edited two versions, one for them and one for Toronto! Reshma, the owner and designer of Sakina, is the sister of one of our former brides Jasmin (remember Jasmin and AJ’s slow motion videobooth?) All the jewellery in the video is provided by Sakina. Check them out here and see the video we made them.

Think you can spot your neighborhood or favourite Toronto hangouts? Check it out below. It’s safe to say Toronto is a great city to explore. What’s your favourite place, neighborhood or thing to do in TO (or as Drake has affectionately dubbed us, The 6)? Share in the comment section!

Happy viewing (get it?)!
